USGS staff have mobilized into Hinkley to initiate field sampling work associated with the 4-year, chromium-6 background study (BGS). The BGS will assist in defining what the ultimate groundwater cleanup goal should be for chromium-6, associated with PG&E’s historical release from the compressor station.
USGS staff have been operating out of the IRP Manager’s office on Serra Road. The San Bernardino Sun has maintained a strong interest in the study and has recently reported on it.
Community Advisory Committee (CAC) members have had the opportunity to participate in meetings with Dr. Izbicki and learn more about the analytical techniques which will be used in the study.
For example, this photograph shows the CAC members participating in measurements being made of total Chromium in Hinkley soil samples.
