Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board staff released a proposed Cleanup and Abatement Order

Workshop on Proposed Cleanup and Abatement Order for Pacific Gas and Electric Company Hinkley Groundwater Cleanup

On January 21, 2015, Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board staff released a proposed Cleanup and Abatement Order (CAO) for public review and comment. The proposed CAO consolidates requirements and replaces 15 previous orders; directs PG&E to continue to remediate chromium-contaminated groundwater; requires refinement of the chromium plume boundaries; sets plume capture requirements; and sets deadlines to meet interim cleanup targets. A monitoring and reporting program is included.

Written comments are due on the proposed CAO by 5 p.m. on March 13, 2015.

To help the public understand and review the CAO, Water Board staff is hosting a public information meeting during the comment period.

When: Thursday, February 26, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Where: Hinkley Community and Senior Center, 35997 Mountain View Road, Hinkley, CA

Purpose: Provide information and discussion on the proposed CAO. Hinkley residents and other interested stakeholders are encouraged to participate and ask questions.

This meeting is for information purposes only; it is not a formal Water Board hearing. No Water Board decision or direction will result from this meeting. Written comments on the CAO will be accepted at the meeting; however, verbal comments will not be recorded or included in the record for consideration.

Spanish language interpreters will be available at the meeting.
